Frank Micalizzi
General Manager, Grand Café

Starting with his first nine years in Calabria, Italy and following through his one hundred percent Italian home, a welcoming nature was a priority to Frank Micalizzi; hospitality, food and warmth were at the center of every gathering. Today, Micalizzi brings those values into every aspect of his role as General Manager at the Grand Cafe. Bringing with him extensive experience in both the front and back of the house, Micalizzi radiates with a distinctive level of restaurant savvy and sensitivity towards the diner's experience, which has synergized with the Grand Cafe culture. His ebullient energy fills the dining room, and his charming interactions with guests combined with his astute abilities in operating a 260-seat restaurant, contribute markedly to the exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere at the Grand Cafe.

Frank's wealth of experience in the restaurant world spans more than two decades and includes work with notable restaurants in southern California and Las Vegas as well as time in Europe spent researching wines and cuisines.

Prior to joining Grand Cafe, Frank Micalizzi was the general manager at Giorgio Ristorante E Caffe a Valentino group Restaurants, at Mandalay Place in Las Vegas, where the exciting restaurant scene offers fertile ground for further creative ventures. For Micalizzi, the momentum nurtured in that environment carries with him, and compliments his solid experience in operating such successful ventures as JJ's Steak House and Il Fornaio Cucina, both in Pasadena, California. He brings this same energy and experience to the vibrant brasserie and bar at the Grand Cafe where his knowledge and care are brought to light in the restaurant.

Micalizzi resides in Marin County with his wife and daughter, where he still maintains his passion for cooking and entertaining in the company of far-reaching friends and family, including his son who frequently visits from UCLA medical school.
